Clinical Supervision
and
Reflective Practice

Clinical supervision and reflective practice are essential for many people working in the helping professions. You might look for supervision hours to maintain your professional registration, but having a space to reflect and explore your work can be so much more than that. I work with counsellors, therapists, social workers and teachers, or indeed anyone who wants to find more space to reflect on their work, whether that is to find confidence, learning, fulfilment, efficacy or support. Working therapeutically in any form can have a significant impact on your wellbeing. Reflective practice and supervision are also ways to support you to avoid burnout and work sustainably.

If you're interested in trying some supervision with me, please get in touch to arrange an introductory phone call or zoom meeting.

Please note: I am not currently providing EMDR supervision.

What to Expect

Way of Working

I am an integrative practitioner, using elements of relational work, trauma theory, somatic work and unconscious processes in the way I supervise. I don't necessarily need you to work in the same way as me.in order for us to do some supervision together.

My basis for supervision is the seven-eyed supervision model (Hawkins and Shohet, 1985); this way of working is very relational, incorporates different perspectives and prioritises exploration and awareness when it comes to discussing clients and your response to them. I also use the concept of safe uncertainty (Mason, 2022) to frame my supervision work; I don't have all the answers and working with uncertainty is a necessary part of working with people. Supervision can help you to find value in staying with the uncertain in a way that feels good.

Centred around you

You are your most important tool when it comes to doing valuable work with people. For that reason, your supervision should fit with your needs. In our first session we will have chance to talk about what these needs might be and how we can make supervision be just what you need.

People sometimes find they need their supervisor outside of sessions. This might include on-hand safeguarding consultation or report writing. I do not charge an additional fee for these if we have a monthly supervision arrangement.
